STEM Scholarship Initiative

Overview:
At Empower Appalachia Foundation, our STEM Scholarship Initiative is a cornerstone of our commitment to nurturing and empowering the region's young minds. The deadline for applications for the 2025/2026 school year is May 4, 2025.

Collaborating with STEM Educators:
We are immensely grateful for the support and collaboration of the dedicated STEM teachers at Pocahontas County High School. Their endorsement and assistance are invaluable as we strive to inspire and guide students toward a future in STEM.

Encouraging Future Innovators:
Our efforts aim to ignite passion and curiosity, encouraging these budding minds to envision their role in shaping the future through STEM. By fostering this initiative, we aspire to provide not only financial support but also mentorship and resources to aid students in realizing their ambitions.

Future Steps:
Our commitment to fostering STEM education and empowerment remains unwavering. We continue our journey of outreach, mentorship programs, and scholarship opportunities to support and uplift the aspirations of talented young individuals in Appalachia.

Join us in this transformative journey as we pave the way for a future generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders in the STEM landscape.  Donations are accepted 365 days a year. Scholarship Details

How much is it?

  • $5,000

  • Access to mentorship from Empower Appalachia Foundation members throughout the duration of the student's STEM educational pursuits.

Eligibility Requirements
•    Applicants should be high school or homeschooled students set to graduate in May 2025.

•   Applicants reside in Pocahontas County and/or Tygarts Valley High School vicinity.

•    Applicants intend to enroll in an accredited college, university, or technical institution.
•    Applicants intend to pursue a degree, certification, or training in a field aligned with Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.

•    Essay (around 500 words) describing your educational and career goals.
•    List of extracurricular activities, community involvement, and leadership roles.

How to Apply
•    Send submissions to info@empowerappalachia.org by May 4, 2025.
•    You will receive a verification of submission email within 3 business days. If you do not receive a verification of submission, please do not hesitate to email again.
•    Recipient will be notified of award prior to graduation.
